Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions are not taken over the phone because potentially dangerous misunderstandings may arise.

If you require a prescription and think the doctor will supply it without seeing you, please notify the surgery in writing using the right hand side of your repeat prescription or by fax, e-mail or website, and please specify your name, address, date of birth, the drug(s) required and if possible the condition requiring treatment.

You can also come into surgery, forms for repeat prescriptions are available on the front desk.

Please allow 2 full working days for processing the prescription before collection. You may be asked to attend the surgery at intervals to monitor certain drugs or conditions.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
